The Town of Weddinton is located in Union County about 15 miles from downtown Charlotte. Weddington is set in a natural environment. Most building did not occur there until the late 1990's. Weddinton has a large concentration of wealth and many big beautiful homes litter the landscape.

The town of Weddington started in the 1760's with migration of northerners of Euaropean descent. Before that the Waxhaw-Indians rented the land. In 1824 Reuben Baswell, a revolutionary war hero, started the Sandy Ridge Methodist Episcopal Church. Reuben Boswell Weddington, his grandson, was born in 1826 and left a lasting legacy to the community which now bears his name. The NC General Assembly incoporated this area as a town in 1982. The community plays host to the Charlotte Steeple Chase horse races every year.

Today Weddinton has a population of around 15,000 people. The town is 95.52% white, 4.02% african american, 1.08% asian and 1.07% Hispanic. The rest was other. The median income for a household was $97,617. It is also referred to as area 10-4.
