Mecklenburg
County on the outskirts of charlotte and near the union and Cabarrus county lines. About 27,000 people live in Mint Hill. The racial makeup of the town was 95.11 white, .81 African American, 3% Hispanic, and 1.08 other. The average household income was 64,310. and average home value was 177k. Median age of 40.
Incorporated in
March 11, 1971 the town has enjoyed a steady growth. The town following tradition established when the Mint Hill community was 1st settled in the 1750’s has tremendous community spirit and pride. Within the town are many churches and excellent schools including
Independence
High School winner of the 4A state championship football title 7 years in a row. Also our Alma mater!!! There are several public golf courses and a private country club. The town is also very family oriented with many ball fields, soccer fields and playgrounds. Residents enjoyed 2 public parks with several amenities including soccer fields, riding trails, lighted tennis courts, Frisbee golf, volleyball and softball fields just to name a few. It also plays host to Mint Hill Madness Annual Festival which draws more than 60k people every year.
Mint Hill is currently enjoying an influx of luxury residential communities and high end shops and restaurants. It is home to the new out door shopping mall called “The Bridges of Mint Hill” and such high end communities like Chapel (a luxury equestrian community) and Sienna (which will have their own vineyard).
The Town recently got its own police force. The students of Mint Hill attend the
Charlotte
Mecklenburg
School system. Elementary Schools include Clear Creek, Bain,
Crown Point, and
Lebanon road elementary. Middle Schools include northeast and Mint Hill middle. High Schools include
Independence,
Butler and
East Mecklenburg. Mint Hill is also home to
Queens
Grant
Charter
School. Mint Hill is also known as area 3.5 and 3.6.
