Dilworth
The Dilworth community can be found South of Uptown Charlotte. The neighborhood was
Charlotte’s first streetcar suburb and was established by Edward Dilworth Latta in the 1890’s on 250 acres and was originally designated as
Charlotte’s 8th ward. The streets of Dilworth feature stately, mature Oak trees, sidewalks and Southern style housing with large inviting front porches. The homes are primarily bungalow style with the occasional Queen Anne as well as large 2 story Colonial revival homes that line Dilworth streets.
East Boulevard serves as the main thoroughfare through the neighborhood and divides the residential.
East Boulevard is lined with restaurants, offices and shops many of which are located in renovated homes.
Charlotte’s largest hospital,
Carolinas
Medical
Center, is also located in Dilworth. As well as some of charlottes most visited parks, Freedom and Latta Parks.
