Concord

Concords history dates back over 200 years. Back in the late 1700’s there was a disagreement between the German and Scots-Irish settlements. A compromise was eventually reached and the new city was founded in 1796. on a 26 acre site. The city was named concord meaning “harmony” to reflect the spirit in which the issue was settled.

When you look at concord today and see the wonderful mixture of progress and heritage, the perfect blend of business industrial and residential life. The city of concord has a population of about 62k. The racial makeup was 78.8 white and 15.1 African amercian.7.8 Hispanic 1.22 Asian and .3 other. The median income for a household was $46,000.

Concord is the current home to Lowes Motor Speedway (home to the coca cola 600), a NASCAR research and development office, several pro race teams, including Hendrick Motor sports and Roush Fenway racing. Attractions include Lowes motor speedway, Concord Mills Mall and entertainment complex, Concord motor sport park and Barber Scotia college. It is known as area 11.
